Pada tanggal 10 April 1990 berdirilah sebuah bangunan sekolah terdiri dari 2 ( dua ) ruang kelas.Untuk belajar yang masih sangat sederhana dengan perlengkapan belajar seadanya, bangunan tersebut terletak di Wilayah Kampung Rawa Badung Cakung Jakarta Timur. Bapak Ir. Wisnuhadi selaku pimpinan proyek pembangunan menyerahterimakan bangunan tersebut kepada Bapak Sopar Simamora,BA selaku kepala sekolah pertama dan selanjutnya bangunan tersebut dipergunakan secara maksimal untuk kegiatan pendidikan dan belajar.
Semula sekolah ini bernama SMA Negeri Baru Pengarengan, kemudian pada tahun 1992 diberi nama SMA Negeri 107 Jakarta, dan pada tahun 1995 disesuaikan dengan peraturan Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan ( Mendikbud ) waktu itu menjadi SMU Negeri 107 Jakarta dan saat ini sesuai dengan berlakunya kurikulum 2004 maka sekolah ini kembali menjadi SMA Negeri 107 Jakarta. Kegiatan pembelajaran di sekolah ini pada tahun pelajaran 1991 – 1992 dimulai dengan peserta didik 90 siswa dengan guru 16 orang termasuk Kepala Sekolah.
Dengan penuh kesabaran , kerja keras dan bahu membahu mulai dari kepala sekolah, guru, karyawan dan semua siswa membangun sekolah ini untuk mndapatkan prestasi yang baik. SMA Negeri 107 Jakarta selalu berupaya untuk meningkatkan prestasinya agar dapat sejajar dengan SMA lainnya, khususnya di Jakarta Timur. Saat ini SMA Negeri 107 Jakarta memang bukanlah sekolah yang mempunyai prestasi nomor 1 ( satu ) tetapi juga bukan sekolah yang berada pada urutan paling bawah di antara 5 ( lima ) SMA Negeri yang ada di sanggar 17 Kecamatan Cakung. SMA Negeri 107 Jakarta akan selalu terus berjuang meningkatkan prestasi akademik dan ekstrakurikulernya sebagai pengejawantahan tujuan pendidikan nasional, yaitu untuk mengembangkan potensi peserta didik agar menjadi manusia yang beriman dan bertaqwa kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, berakhlak mulia, sehat, berilmu, cakap, kreatif, mandiri dan menjadi warga Negara yang demokratis serta bertanggung jawab.
SMA Negeri 107 Jakarta tetap berusaha sekuat tenaga untuk menjadikan semua peserta didiknya untuk dapat memiliki prestasi akademik serta juga memiliki ketrampilan hidup ( life skill ) sebagaimana tuntutan di era globalisasi. SMA Negeri 107 Jakarta telah dipimpin oleh beberapa kepala sekolah yaitu :
